Hi Everyone, There is so much going on...let's just get to it. --------------------------------------------------- Now available for purchase at subsprawl.com: - 'Knocked Out' by Those Transatlantics - Javelins Tour Shirt --------------------------------------------------- Those Transatlantics The Mt. Pleasanters have been busy indeed prepping the world for the release of "Knocked Out," setting up their summer touring schedule, and pondering whether the adaptive unconscious is as prominent in decision making as recent studies have indicated (see: Dijksterhuis et al., 2006). The video for "In Your Neighborhood" is finished and looks great (read all about it in the Lansing Noise article below). The video will be premiered at an event this March at the Magic Stick. Check out the band's live show at Mac's Bar on March 25th with Scout Niblett (Secretly Canadian) and Rainer Maria (Polyvinyl). New "Knocked Out" themed web site will be up this month as well. Those Transatlantics would also like to be the first to tell you that the Detroit Tigers are going to surprise a lot of people this season. Next comes the mixing/mastering /post-production stages, which will take longer than you might think. Don't worry though, the finished product will be very worth it. In the meantime, the major dudes will be making some choice appearances around town, starting March 10th at Mac's Bar in Lansing, opening for Aloha. They've also been busy moonlighting in other projects, with Zach playing/recording in Zoos of Berlin, Dave playing/recording in the Drinking Problem, Adam (as always) playing with the Recital, and Will making a surprise solo appearance with Matt Rickle on WHFR last month. The band's latest EP, TGIF, was recently given some kind words in Real Detroit. Read about it below. http://www.realdetroitweekly.com/article_753.shtml --------------------------------------------------- El Boxeo The band has spent the last few months putting the final touches on "Awake & Dreaming," and it is now FINISHED. And the band couldn't be more proud of it. Be ready to be surprised; this shit gets weird. As for an official release date: not sure yet. Probably early June. It will be worth the wait, the band promises. After its release, expect to see the band playing out and touring again. A few local shows have been scheduled in the coming months, including a performance at the annual Metrotimes Hamtramck Blowout, on March 4 at the Painted Lady. --------------------------------------------------- Javelins After 3 successful tours in support if "No Plants, Just Animals," the band has decided to take a break from shows for a little while and start working on/recording demos for a new record. Yay! We are super excited for these new songs, and we hope you will share our enthusiasm! Keep watch on their myspace, as they may even be posting some demos as they come along. In addition, Matt R. has been/will be helping out our good friends Thunderbirds are Now! on tours in Feb/March, so look for those shows! In other news, the Javelins/Anathallo 12" Re-press Vinyl split will be available at the SSM store in the next week or so. The packaging is still ridiculously cool, and this pressing is on clear vinyl. --------------------------------------------------- The Recital The Recital just put the finishing touches on a great show with the Tiny Steps. They will now write songs, slowly but skillfully. They're still selling plenty of copies of their 2005 classic, Colour Up. Ryan has a new job working with lasers, Rob gambles, teaches, and gambles, Adam bangs the drums with Pop Project and is completing a thumb-tack mosaic, and Chris whines when he sings and is living in Livonia again. See the boys at the Metrotimes Blowout in Hamtramck on Saturday, March 4 at Painted Lady. --------------------------------------------------- Child Bite: Never heard of this band? That's OK, nobody has; it's SSM's newest addition, featuring the 2 men from El Boxeo and one of the guys from New Grenada. They just finished recording their first full length, entitled "Wild Feast," at Chicago's Phantom Manor. 11 spastic rumblers that clock in at about 24 minutes, the first of which is available right now at myspace.com/childbite. The record is slated to drop this fall, but the band's exciting first show is right around the corner; March 4th w/ labelmates The Recital & El Boxeo. 2 more local shows will soon follow; March 5th at the Double Olive (w/ The Fifty) & March 9th at the Lager House (w/ Rescue). --------------------------------------------------- See you around!
